THE FOOD CORRIDOR
The Food Corridor software platform currently powers 400+ shared-use kitchens of varying sizes and scopes across the U.S. and Canada. Their platform helps shared kitchen operators manage their spaces more efficiently by offering tools for scheduling, billing, compliance, and member management. This allows kitchen operators to streamline their operations and focus more on growing their businesses. The Food Corridor aims to support the growth and sustainability of shared kitchen spaces, which are essential for food entrepreneurs and small businesses. Additionally, The Food Corridor moderates the Network for Incubator and Commissary Kitchens (NICK), the largest professional network of shared kitchens, and provides extensive Technical Assistance to the industry. This Community of Practice brings together private, nonprofit and publicly-funded shared kitchens for collaboration, business insights, and technical support.
NW AND ROCKY MOUNTAIN FOOD BUSINESS CENTER
As part of the network of USDA Regional Food Business Centers, the Northwest and Rocky Mountain Regional Food Business Center supports a more resilient, diverse, and competitive food system. This Center is designed to be a node for the region’s small and mid-tier food and farm businesses and local and regional food sector development initiatives by supporting cross-regional collaboration, technical assistance on topics including scaling food entrepreneurs, meat supply chains, climate-smart crops, and right size infrastructure, as well as serving as a gateway for USDA programs.

Guided by our core values of innovation and inclusivity, SFA develops events, educational programs, and resources that support and champion our members and the global specialty food community. These include the Fancy Food Show expos, the six-month Maker Prep Course, and the annual sofi™ Awards honoring excellence in specialty food.
LA COCINA
La Cocina is an award-winning nonprofit kitchen incubator in San Francisco with the mission of cultivating working-class women entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their food businesses. We do this by providing affordable commercial kitchen spaces, industry-specific technical assistance, and access to market opportunities. We focus primarily on supporting women from communities of color and immigrant communities. Although all program participants are low- to very low-income and launch businesses with less than $5,000 in capital, many of these talented entrepreneurs go on to receive industry awards and accolades from James Beard, Food & Wine, and StarChefs. More importantly, they are all catalysts to economic development, uplifting themselves and their families, changing the trajectory of future generations, creating jobs, and positively transforming communities and the Bay Area food landscape.

We work with clients on a range of topics, including food hub, food bank, commercial kitchen, and value-add food business operational and financial planning; stakeholder engagement and strategic planning; sustainable agriculture production and logistics; regional asset mapping, landscape analysis, and needs assessments; board and organizational development, and other areas of technical assistance and organizational advancement. FWG is currently developing two pilot concepts that support mid-scale manufacturing solutions for regional CPG and food service brands looking to scale out of shared-use commercial kitchens into co-manufacturing. Specifically, we are exploring market demand and projected facility utilization for cash-flow positive small-to-mid-scale contract manufacturing solutions in two peri-urban centers, South Boston and the Twin Cities. The projects are both developing and revising organizational strategy, core operations, and synergies between existing commercial kitchen facility attributes and functions while developing new operations, food safety, and ancillary services for a new or expanded stand-alone co-man space. By looking critically at the projected user pipeline, capital improvements, operating expenses, earned revenue, and other financial considerations, they are developing a model for operational and financial viability.
